2019 .PST to 2024 .PST.... boom Corrupted!!

Moving to new computers.  Copying over the 70 gig PST to the new 2024 Office version (MaxLargeFileSize and WarnLargeFileSize set to 100gig), yet, Outlook will magically say the file is corrupt after about 3 hours of use.

This is happening on multiple computers with large PSTs and after hours of use.

So what causes this corrupting so quick when the 2019 version would have just kept running for a long time?   Is it because indexing of the PST is happening in the background and the user is stressing it out?

If it's corrupt, then how can I set up a new empty .PST as the primary, then open the large .PST has an additional file, and I can't drag/drop ALL make from that PST with no errors.

This corruption stuff is bogus to me and outlook is too vague at what the problem is.

PS. this even happens when the PST is "per-emptively" repaired with scanpst.

  • hi Eric, I'll try to help. If your original PST is very old it might not transfer well. I have had to make a new PST to get it to convert. I don't help clients with the reg edit to max past 50 gigs, I try to help them balance with many PST's versus one that size. The size might be the issue as well. What I would do is create a new PST, then move some of the larger folders to the new PST. I always make a backup before moving any folders or emails from a PST to have a safer move. As you have a custom PST, it could have issues with moving to a new one. Just a pro tip here.

I don't think ScanPST would repair this, I would export the entire thing to a new one but as you have it at 70 gigs, it probably won't export well.

My opinion is to make a new PST and move folders to balance the load.

Meant to say, 'I *can* drag/drop ALL make from that PST with no errors.'
