OneDrive broken on macOS 10.15 Catalina?
- MWest2k8Apr 20, 2023Copper Contributor
Hi Micha, I'm newly registered to this site but following the thread a while, since I got the same problem and tried all the suggested solutions from here. Just one question: you say "Try this:" followed by a link. But when I click on the link it will only direct me to my microsoft one login and the to the web-version. Was this what you meant (using the web-version of one) or did something happen with the link?
Thanks a lot!

Yep. As I don't know any workaround in this case, I suggest using the web version instead.

Hi Michael,The instructions are here:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/my-fix-for-onedrive-on-macos-catalina-1015x/de6ab37d-fa23-42b5-b5df-fbf05e09887b?page=3
Download version from the link in step B of the instructions:
Step B: Download and Install older version of OneDrive
Download the 23.002.0102.0004 (deferred ring). The MS download site is this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/onedrive-release-notes-845dcf18-f921-435e-bf28-4e24b95e5fc0?ui=en-us&rs=en-us&ad=us#OSVersion=Mac ); do not install from the Mac Appstore—that version has already been updated to 23.061.0319.0003 or later
Others report success with version 23.054 (I also had early success, but I've since learned that it updates too aggressively)
Alternate site for older versions of OneDrive: https://hansbrender.com/all-onedrive-versions/#tabmac
After downloading and before installing, turn off wifi (to avoid auto-update during or soon after the install process)
Install OneDrive 23.002.0102.0004 (with Wifi turned off)
Before you start, uninstall the OneDrive application on your Mac. Then, follow the instructions from Bryan to the letter, especially the instructions about turning off the WiFi when installing the downloaded version.
Make sure you edit the plist as described in step C before connecting to WiFi
I did not change the host file, but have an application called Lingon that seems to work in combination with the edited plist. Should I get any further issues, I will probably edit the hostfile as described in Bryan's solution.
I have version 23.054 ....installed and has worked very well for a week now. Just make sure you do not update from the App Store and do not allow Automatic updates.
Good Luck
- SchozzApr 19, 2023Copper ContributorMany thanks Micha, I will give it a go👍 I heard from Support again today saying:
"Hello Pete,
Thank you for you response.
There is currently no ETA to when the update will be rolled out and resolved. However, I will try my best to update you via email as soon as I received update from the escalation team.
Kindly let me know if you need further clarification from my end."
"How long is a piece of string" and "don't hold your breath" comes to mind, but I sincerely hope it is sooner rather than later🤞
