"On this Day" feature, where does it get photos from?
I keep photos absolutely elsewhere (DCIM camera folder synced with Google services). OneDrive synced files have 0 photos and yet some come out with random "on this day" photos. How the hell does it know them?

"On This Day" pulls from more places than just your OneDrive files. I think it scans photo attachments in your Outlook emails, images shared in Teams chats, photos embedded in Word or PowerPoint files, and even screenshots.
