Jun 21, 2017Locally connecting to files (Recommendation)
We have been waiting for the new OneDrive client to be released so that we can show our users the benefit of cloud storage. We have a lot of our scenarios covered for accessing and working with cloud...

My two cents:
- Probably the upcoming OneDrive Files On-Demand will help you somehow: as the name implies, you will be able to sync files on-demand, without clobbering the local hard disk. You'll need to wait for the Windows 10 Fall Update, though. (https://blogs.office.com/2017/05/11/introducing-onedrive-files-on-demand-and-additional-features-making-it-easier-to-access-and-share-files/)
- To solve the problem now, you could use a third party mapping product, such as the excellent ZeeDrive. (http://www.thinkscape.com/Map-Network-Drives-To-Office-365-OneDrive/)
- Jun 22, 2017+1 for Files OnDemand option....but it's not clear to me if we will have it also for SPO Document Libraries

Yes!
Stephen Rose has demoed it in his webinar: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/OneDrive-Blog/How-OneDrive-Powers-Modern-Collaboration-Webinar/ba-p/81366

Looks really good and could solve a lot of my issues. Look forward to being able to install the insider build.

Salvatore Biscari Thanks for your input.
jcgonzalezmartin I would be shocked if MS actually thought forward and came out with this capability for SPO libraries in their first iteration.
It seems like every time I make progress in selling this solution to my company there is a use case where online only storage capabilities just are there from MS.
I will have to take another look at the OneDrive Mapper powershell. It had promise at one time.
- Jun 22, 2017I have the same feeling...but let's dream for now we will have it after summer ^-^
