Creating New Account
It sounds frustrating to go through the verification puzzles multiple times without successfully creating a new OneDrive account. This problem is usually due to one of several factors, and there are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot this:
1. Clear Browser Cache and Cookies
- Sometimes, old data stored in your browser can interfere with new account creation.
- To clear cache and cookies:
- In Chrome: Go to Settings > Privacy and security > Clear browsing data.
- In Edge: Go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Clear browsing data.
- After clearing, close the browser completely, reopen it, and try signing up again.
2. Try a Different Browser or Incognito Mode
- Some browsers handle these CAPTCHA and verification processes differently. If you’re using Chrome, try Edge or Firefox, or vice versa.
- Alternatively, you can try Incognito/Private mode, which prevents extensions and cookies from interfering with the process:
- In Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N.
- In Edge, press Ctrl + Shift + P.
3. Check Your Internet Connection
- A weak or inconsistent internet connection can sometimes interfere with the CAPTCHA or verification process, causing it to reset unexpectedly. Try restarting your router or switching to a more stable network if possible.
4. Disable Browser Extensions Temporarily
- Some browser extensions, especially those related to privacy or security (like ad blockers, VPNs, or anti-tracking extensions), can interfere with verification processes.
- Try disabling extensions temporarily and then attempt the signup again.
5. Use the Microsoft Authenticator App for Verification
- You might be able to simplify the verification process by linking it with the Microsoft Authenticator app.
- Download the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone from the App Store or Google Play.
- During sign-up, look for an option to use the Authenticator app for verification (if available). This can sometimes bypass CAPTCHAs and other verification routines.
6. Try Signing Up via a Different Device
- If possible, try completing the account setup on a different device, such as a smartphone or another computer. This can help bypass any device-specific issues or settings that may be causing the issue.
Hopefully, one of these methods will work for you. The text and steps were edited with the help of AI.
My answers are voluntary and without guarantee!
Hi, I was just able to login using my other browser, Mozilla Firefox, and wasn't even asked to do the puzzle scenario this time. I had been using my Brave Browser, which has given me trouble sometimes in the past, because it is very strict. Guess I should have thought of this, but for some reason I didn't. Thank you so much for your suggestions, and especially thank you for the time you spent with this. It is greatly appreciated. Have a great day. Buck Butler.
