Bombarded OneDrive setup \System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE

Hi,

We are seeing a high number of OneDrive setup files under C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE folder which should have been cleanup up after usage. Has anyone come across this situation? Can someone suggest a method to clean this up and avoid such situations in future?

You can clean up the OneDrive setup files in the C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE folder by following these steps:

1.Delete the files manually: You can delete these files directly. However, you should skip the file container.dat.

2.Use Disk Clean-up: Right-click the C disk in Explorer, select Properties, click Disk Clean-up, select “Temporary Internet Files” (and maybe some others), and click OK.

To avoid having these files in the first place, you can do the following:

Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed:

Go to Start > Internet Options > Advanced tab. Place a check-mark next to “Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed”. Click OK.

If this does not solve the problem, you can run a cleanup task. This task can be run as a PowerShell script, contained in a .ps1 file.

Please note that these methods should be performed with caution and it’s always a good idea to back up your data before making any changes to your system

Deleted Thanks for your valuable update. I have now applied the internet options to empty the temporary Internet files now. Will keep an eye on this folder for some time.
