NCE / CSP | Business Premium add ons

Hi,
I tried to find information in Microsoft Product terms but didn't find anything conclusive.

If a customer have M365 Business Premium licenses, can they add Enterprise + Mobility E5 licenses for added security?
Or is the add-ons that are available for M365 Business Premium only "standalone" licenses for the services that are included in Enterprise + Mobility E5?

Kind regards,

Charlotte

  • Because EMS E5 is a standalone offering, i.e. it has no pre-requisites or dependencies, yes, EMS E5 can be added to M365 Business Premium. Just understand that EMS E5 has overlap with Microsoft 365 Business Premium, so there will be some services that the customer will be double paying for, e.g. Intune. On the other hand, this is the only way to "upgrade" the AIP that comes with M365 Business Premium to AIP Plan 2, if that is what your customer is looking to do, meaning there is good reason to do this in specific circumstances.

For clarification, are you aware that M365 Business Premium includes Microsoft Defender for Business?

You can find information on EMS and M365 in Product Terms by selecting Product Offerings >> Online Services:

Once you select Enterprise Mobility + Security, you're taken to a page that shows you which EMS products are available with which programs. Most commonly, EMS is an Add-On to M365 E3/E5, and notfor M365 Business Premium:

As a friendly reminder, the Offer Matrix should be used to identify applicable product SKUs. The Offer Matrix can be found by signing into Partner Center.

      Adding to David's reply.

If you have access to the CSP pricing in Partner Center, there is a downloadable Offer Matrix.
This matrix provides details of any dependencies where a base license is required.
An example would be Teams Phone Standard that can only be added to an applicable base license such as M365 Business Basic/Standard/Premium, E3, Office 365 E1/E3, etc.
