We need a way for managers to see their employee conversation history
Hi kjstech There is a way for an IT Admin to give a manager read-only access to a subset of an employee's chat history.
Please follow below steps and watch video attached:
Assign the appropriate administrative role to the manager: As an IT Admin, you can assign a managerial role to the manager within Microsoft Teams. Roles such as Teams Service Administrator, Teams Communications Administrator, or Compliance Administrator might have the necessary permissions for this purpose. The specific roles and their permissions can change over time, so it's recommended to consult the Microsoft Teams documentation for the latest information.
Configure Compliance features: Microsoft Teams offers compliance and data retention features that can be leveraged to access and manage chat history. These features include:
a. Compliance Center: Access the Microsoft 365 Compliance Center (compliance.microsoft.com) as an IT Admin to configure compliance policies and settings. This is where you can define retention policies for chat data.
b. Retention Policies: Create and apply retention policies to Teams chat data. These policies define how long chat messages are retained and if they can be deleted or modified.
c. eDiscovery: Enable eDiscovery capabilities to search and export chat data. This feature allows authorized users, including managers, to search and access specific employee chat history for compliance or legal purposes.
Grant access to the manager: Once the compliance and retention policies are configured, the IT Admin can grant the manager access to the compliance features, allowing them to search and access specific employee chat history. This access may require assigning the manager appropriate permissions within the Compliance Center.
