Hi,
Our Tenant has a retention policy enabled for Sharepoint, so it is not possible to delete a private channel from a Teams.
I tested it by removing the private channel site from the retention policy and was able to delete it from Teams.
Therefore, if the retention policy is enabled for Sharepoint, you cannot delete a private channel without first removing it from retention.

josegfl hi Jose, how did you exclude teams site collection from the sharepoint Lists configured for a retention policy?
Thanks

- Jeff_ParkerMar 31, 2020Brass ContributorThis worked thanks. It took a bit of time (approx. 30 mins) after excluding the site before I could delete the private channel.
- Jeff_ParkerApr 14, 2020Brass ContributorHowever, the folder on my PC where I did a local sync to wasn't deleted and now I can't delete it in File Explorer. The error message is "The action can't be completed because the folder or a file in it is open in another program".
The folder has a file called ".849C9593-D756-4E56-8D6E-42412F2A707B" in it, and when I try and delete it the error is "The action can't be completed because the file is open in Microsoft OneDrive".
Any ideas please how on to delete these?
