"There was a problem saving the photo. Please try again."
Every time someone tries to change the image of the team we get this error, "There was a problem saving the photo. Please try again." We try and try and try and try and try and try again with NADA. I have asked for help, but get nothing. So does anyone else have this issue or just us? A solution?
OrlaJoan Hi, wow this conversation is massive. I wonder if all are having identical issues with the photo. Must be that similar has been merged into this one.
Anyway, for the record. Something that can affect is the following.
"Teams users with mailboxes hosted on premises must be synchronized to Azure Active Directory. They can change the user profile picture providing Exchange Server 2016 (Cumulative Update 3), or above, is running on-premises."
'Change your picture in Teams'
See the table with "User's mailbox is hosted in" and the "Modify user profile picture" to see if you should be able to do it.
'How Exchange and Microsoft Teams interact'
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/exchange-teams-interact
Note the 7 disclaimer as well.
"Teams honors the Outlook on the web mailbox policy setting that's configured by tenant admins to control whether users can change their profile picture. If the -SetPhotoEnabled setting is turned off in the policy, users cannot add, change, or remove their profile picture."
- stbnchCopper ContributorThis is still happening. Somehow theres a single team out of 4 that cannot have its picture updated. Despite the change being done by the same owner on the 4 teams, a single one just says "There was a problem saving the photo. Please try again."
Web version didn't help, resizing picture didn't change. It doesn't even have to be those solutions, otherwise it woldn't be able to change the other 3 team's pictures... - ben1234567Copper Contributor
Microsoft, it is 2023 now. This has been an issue on teams since 2019 according to this thread. Please explain why I have spent 2 days with useless errors that are not even relevant to a profile image, trying to upload a single (correctly sized and formatted) graphic onto the profile pic slot for a teams group. I have enough other things to set up whilst I migrate a full set of systems onto 365 that this should not be the thing causing me the most problems. The domain setup was easier.
- Mustafa_RifatCopper ContributorFor me, I changed the image size to 256*256 pixels (png) and then it was saved. It is a weird problem indeed. Also, the same image without changing the size could be uploaded in my teams app without any issue on my phone.
- aaanneBrass ContributorThis happens with every team I create. The solution is to wait a few minutes (10) after creating the team, and then upload the image. Works every time here.

P_Moore I FINALLY got this to work by changing it on Teams on my phone. The web and local apps didn't work. Seeing another comment, I tried my phone and finally got it to work. It's a bit ridiculous that this problem persists from three years ago and they still have not fixed it.

JIRL5 what ended up working for me, was renaming the file. It had an underscore in it...just saying.
- DBMasonCopper ContributorI found that changing the photo (in this case for a Teams icon) only worked in the online version of Teams. Locally, it seems that noone can get this to work.

I found the solution here -> https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams/profile-picture-doesn-t-show-in-teams/m-p/363478.
You will need to sign out of teams desktop and sign back in. This will clear the cache, unfortunately everyone else will probably not see your profile pic until they also clear their teams cache.
Good Luck
