Teams Live Event Links not going to live event when Teams is closed

Hi there,

In the company I work for we've noticed a slight issue with Teams when it is completely closed. If you click on a Teams Live Event link without Outlook when Teams is completely shut, Teams will open but it doesn't take you to the Live Event, its either the last place you were in Teams or another random place.

Has anybody else experienced this or knows of a potential resolution?

Many thanks,

Joe

  • I’ll try to replicate! What version are you running?
I’d click the help button and send feedback to Microsoft about this

        Afternoon everyone!

        I hope you're all well!

I was just wondering if anybody had any luck in replicating this and/ or a possible resolution?

I did try clearing the appdata here: %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams which did work for one colleague however it didn't work for another, so was mixed results.

Just wondered if anybody else has seen/ experienced/ knows a possible resolution?

        Thanks for all your help!

  • Hello JoeTruby   Just to clarify, you're saying that if you click a link to join a Teams Live Event, access to that event is not happening?

ThereseSolimeno thanks for replying so quickly!

It's a strange one, so Teams Live Events work fine in our organisation in general and people can access the events fine but what we've noticed is that if Teams is completely closed (closed via hidden icons in the bottom right of the taskbar), when a Live Event Link is clicked in Outlook, Teams will then load and open, but its doesn't take you to the live event, it goes somewhere else in Teams, usually the last place you were.
This only happens if Teams is completely shut. If the link is the clicked a second time now Teams is open, it will go to the Live Event.

So if Teams is completely shut, clicking the Live Event link takes you somewhere else in Teams not to the Live event. I hope that all makes sense? Bit of a strange one to explain!

To test if you get the same behaviour:

      Close Teams completely
Ask a colleague to send a Live Event Link Via Outlook
Click on link and see where it takes you to in Teams.

Just wondered if anybody else had seen this or heard anything about something like this happening?
