Teams Copying text includes persons name
Microsoft finally saw the light and made the change...
Teams Improves Text Pasting and Mic Pending
Thankfully, Teams pasted text no longer contains a timestamp and the author’s name. The change is effective worldwide and addresses a longstanding irritation. Quite why it took so long for Microsoft to understand how people felt about the insertion of unwanted metadata is a mystery, but it’s gone now. And in other news, Mic Pending is a new feature for Teams calls and meetings.
How is there a thankfully in that? I want name and timestamp back!
I agree so damned much.Tobias! Since switching off the time & author name, the amount of time I need to use to update every conversation to put back the time & author name into every conversations in our ticketing system, so there is a record of the conversation in most every damned ticket is an ultimate time suck. Can you give them back if we hold down the Alt key, perhaps? You need to have the option please.
I think the highwater mark of convienence inside Micrisoft products was achieved about 2015 or so, and now the tide has been running out on stuff like this, and F7 spell checking and a host of other features that have bene removed and stripped away. It's starting to feel like being nibbled to death by ducks, every day.
David, the latest solution is a far cry from how it used to be, but I grudgingly accept it as an adequate solution.
Launch the MS Teams conversation as a separate window.
Press CTRL and A simultaneously will select all.
Press CTRL and C simultaneously will copy all.
Press CTRL and V simultaneously will paste it with the date\time and username.
Some editing is still required, but it's better than nothing. <grumble, grumble, grumble>
