Teams app crashes when sharing the screen
- Jul 17, 2020
Unfortunately that doesn't seem to have helped.
I've seen a suggestion elsewhere to check graphics drivers, so going to give that a try
MarkMiddlemist_Mercato not sure whether this counts as necroposting, but for anyone like me who just had this problem today and is looking for a solution, I fixed it by turning off the HDR of the ultrawide monitor from Display Settings.
- MeganM1600Jan 23, 2024Copper ContributorThe issue for this still persists into 2024, and your suggestion to turn off HDR fixed the issue. Thank you for posting this, I know its a very old thread but you've saved my sanity and I doubt I would have found a solution otherwise.

This HDR solution above should be marked as the top answer! It also fixed my issue after a week of frustrating Teams experiences while travelling (since I was using my laptop monitor, it had different settings including HDR than I normally experience when I'm at my desk with a big monitor).
Much easier to turn off HDR than to clear Teams cache or reinstall Teams, for one.

I just wanted to chime in that the HDR issue solved my screen sharing issue with Teams and that the Microsoft team should absolutely look into this bug!

While I understand this MIGHT solve the problem I bought a Monitor that cost $350 more than the one without HDR for exact the purpose to have the feature called HDR.
Instead of Microsoft adding useless features to Teams they should start fixing the bugs first.

Thanks gq9999!
I created this account specifically to like your post and thank you.
This issue was really blocking me from doing my work (crash on my laptop screen with HDR) as a consultant since working on my new laptop that had that setting.
I've notified my colleagues as well and they're relieved too.
Microsoft, please look into this!- AlexisJajiMar 23, 2023Copper ContributorYes, i still have the crash of Teams when i started to sharing the screen on an HDR display ON.
Plz fix this !

Thanks a lot! 🤗
You just confirmed what I finally found out.
It took me days to research what was crashing Teams all the time.
So, Windows 11 turns HDR automatically and Teams doesn't like it at all.
It's sad that both Windows and Teams are from different companies! They could have fixed this internally. 😉- DominicanaoDec 08, 2022Copper Contributor
AndreGauthier This worked! it was the HDR all along; one of my monitors was capable of having HDR and was automatically on when I switched my laptop to windows 11! Thank you!
