Teams app crashes on Carplay
- Doc36Jul 07, 2020Copper ContributorSame problem here also. Crashes on CarPlay. Worked great until about 3 weeks ago.

Hopefully Microsoft will notice and will fix it in the next release.
Strange that Apple, as part of the app update validation process on the app store, does not test lack of issues in a CarPlay environment.- GregJeffriesOSUJul 13, 2020Copper Contributor
ppmsft I am really fed up with the lack of a proper fix for this issue. From two iOS updates ago, there has been a problem with Teams crashing carplay. It is definitely Teams, it is the only app that causes carplay to crash and cycle reset. It does it on my 2019 F150, my 2020 Cadillac CT6 V and my wife's 2018 Mercedes E350. It is the only app that does this and it is consistent every time.
We need a fix to this. It even happens when you are accessing a Teams meeting via the call in number...this is ridiculous

Hi ppmsft I don't know if this helps but I did a search on "Teams crashes CarPlay" and there were several articles that seem to imply there's a CarPlay problem, not a Teams problem, with suggestions like contacting the car's manufacturer (yikes!). Anyway, you may want to do the same and see if the articles provide you with a solution.

Thanks for the hint, but the links returned from the search engine either point to posts I made in different forums reporting the issue, or use the term "teams" as the generic meaning of a group of people.
If you have 1 specific link that you can share, I'd be happy that you share it here.
In any case, I have no issues with other apps crashing my CarPlay, so it definitely comes from poor coding of the Teams app. I am amazed that none from Microsoft at least tries to reproduce the issue or chimes in this conversation.

Hi again ppmsft We're not supposed to share links by sources other than Microsoft, which is why I didn't post any of the ones I found :-).
It often takes a few days for members of the community to respond to the posts (we get 3000-5000 per month), and sometimes the MVPs will try to replicate the issue if they can - it's really for Teams users to have discussions amongst themselves.
Have you posted your question to answers.microsoft.com? That is more of a tech support site that is managed by internal Microsoft personnel and they can give you personalized responses.
