Shortened Links to SharePoint files

We have come across an issue with files stored in teams which contain links to other locations.

If the link is in SharePoint, the link URL gets reduced automatically (not sure how or why) the link continues to work while the file is stored in teams but once you move the file the link no longer works. 

Links to other websites or locations outside SharePoint are not affected. Does anyone have any thoughts on how this could be solved.

We have switched off  Options>Proofing>Auto-correct> Replace Internet and network links  with hyperlinks
