Unable to delete a private channel

We have retention policy for SharePoint but still can delete ´Private channel` for few hours after creation. Does retention policy take time to come in effect?Did not count but after a period of time, get same error message like above.
MS says deleting from mobile app is a bug which they will fix, but no other solution. With retention, users will not be able to delete private channel . It really increase admin overload to exclude site from retention & then delete.
Is there any different other update from Microsoft?
The update from MS is that it's with Engineering and will take 1-2 months to fix. However, still not publicly admitting it.
