Only able to sign into teams with my phone number

Question

I’m trying to sign into my teams account but I can’t sign in using my email address as it then asks me for my phone number and then tells me the number is in use and that I need to enter a different one. If I get a meeting invite to the email address that is connected to my account, can I still join even if I’m signed in with my phone number?
