No Tabs or Buttons Appearing in Teams

I just started a new Community in Teams. The only option I have in the tool bar is to upload files. Nothing to create anything new like folders. It's coming up that way on other computers and I've run out of ideas. Here is what I am seeing. Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.  Chuck

    Hey Chuck,

The version you’re using is Microsoft Teams Free which has different capabilities to the work/school version of Teams.

In Microsoft Teams Free, you can create communities instead of teams. It’s pretty handy for bringing people together if they’re all on Teams with personal accounts.

The file management is limited here, and the tabs aren’t available unfortunately.

You can read up on what you can do here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/getting-started-with-communities-in-microsoft-teams-free-for-desktop-ee32b27c-a609-4b7d-8690-e8a143aa9836

  • If you're seeing only the "Files" tab with limited options (e.g., can’t create folders, no tabs like "Posts", "About", or "New conversation"), it sounds like the Community space in Microsoft Teams is not fully provisioned, or the permissions/policies may be restricting its functionality. Ask to the owner to change your permissions.
