New BUG? After upgrading to 1.3.00.30866 camera not working
- Dec 03, 2020
Hi ltomovski
We are also experiencing the exact same issue with this version, which is still the automatic update version being deployed.
We also get some of our users reporting that trying to use the camera crashes Teams completely, and they have to open it again to join audio calls only.
The only way we can get our users working again, is to direct them to the current version on the main Teams download site, which is 1.3.00.28779 and then their camera is working again.

RichardEvans Did you have any luck with this issue?

Dear All,
After a lot of troubleshooting, here is the workaround I applied successfully on several machines to fix this problem.
1. Update or Reinstall the camera driver.
2. Uninstall Teams
3. Clear the Teams cache folder in the "Appdata" folder.
4. Download and install the current official version of Teams x64 (1.3.00.28779) which is older than the upgrade recently deployed.
5. Reboot the computer (really needed)
Don't know if this fix is permanent but so far, cameras have been working again for 2 weeks.

Hi
The version 1.4.00.2781 when it is set to complient with windows 8 works for me (camera is operating) but new version spoiled my luck. the bug is again affecting all low brand cameras in my department.
I cannot understand what is going on with cameras on temas na skype - all other software does not have this issue.

RichardEvans This is not a solution. This is along the lines of suggesting Zoom. And as DanBens pointed out, this will only last as long as your client doesn't update.

Restin5While it's still not a solution, I've been able to block updates to my older working version using a suggestion I found elsewhere.
- Browse to %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Teams in Windows Explorer
- Create a directory named DownloadedUpdate
- Right-click on the directory and select Properties
- Switch to the Security tab and click the Edit button
- Click the Add button
- Enter Everyone in the object box at the bottom, then click OK
- On the new Everyone entry, select the top checkbox in the Deny column (will select all).
- Click OK and confirm you do want to block access for everyone.
- Click OK to close the property sheet.
That should block access to the location Teams uses to download updates, to keep you on the old version until a proper fix is known to be available.
To restore Teams updates, remove the Everyone entry added to the list above then delete the DownloadedUpdate directory.

Restin5and DanBens Totally agree this is not a solution! This is our workaround until there is an update which does not stop the camera working. Also, auto-update does indeed upgrade it again to the version which does not work.
@ThereseSolimeno Are there plans for Microsoft to investigate and fix this issue, there are clearly others with the problem. There may only be a few posts on this thread, but I am fairly certain others will be affected. It is affecting over 100 users at my company.
Thanks

RichardEvans @Restin5 and @DanBens
We have about 4500 laptops en after the start of this update for Teams, we have received about 150 user incidents with a camera issue.
What works for us: sometimes reinstalling the latest drivers from lenovo, sometime the latest Intel chipset and sometimes the 64bit version.

RichardEvans I can see how downloading version 28779 would correct the issue, but Microsoft Teams updates automatically without user or admin intervention. Wouldn't you simply be delaying the problem by going back to 28779, as the application would just update to 30866 on its own?
