Hide bar at top of teams sharing
- Mar 21, 2022
rayted22 I'm not aware of any way to disable it. It's generally needed is you end up giving control to other people.
rayted22 I'm not sure I've heard of this message.
Which platform Windows/Mac/Web others ? What exactly are the step to reproduce?
Hi Steven
Using windows... 10
I have 2 screens (though people with one screen have an issue too)
See attached. Happen when sharing your screen - primarily noticed when using google chrome.... it pops up hiding/preventing me from navigating tabs on chrome!
Thank you.

- TechUnitedFeb 22, 2024Copper ContributorIf you're sharing screens from within Citrix or RDP, you will have the issue of not being able to get rid of that sharing bar. It's a complete nightmare. That is the worst thing about Teams.
- AllikatJul 24, 2022Brass ContributorMine doesn't even have the pushpin on the far right to enable me to remove it 😞

It doesn't help that the pin icon is confusing. Rather than showing the current pin state it shows the opposite one. It's like having a power switch with the "on" state labeled "off" and the "off" state labeled "on". It would be much clear if it was text saying "Pin bar" and "Unpin bar". No ambiguity.
As I think about this: the Teams pin is the exact opposite of the mute indicator! That icon shows current state. No wonder I find the Teams pin icon frustrating.

rayted22 It caused the same pain to me. This sharing bar is quite an intrusion when someone is sharing their work using web browsers! The truth is the bar is very sensitive and impossible for the user to completely avoid activating it while switching tabs. I have to use vertical tabs while the team sharing is on. Hope they can make it customizable in the future.

Ray_Chow you have described exactly the problem I'm dealing with when presenting in Teams.
- AnwaarAhmad89Sep 13, 2022Brass ContributorI am facing the same issue as well. I am in a worse condition, when I am sharing screen on Teams and I switch to an RDC (full screen). Then if I want to minimize the RDC window to come back to my local machine's screen, I cannot do that as the RDC toolbar is hidden behind the Teams toolbar. It is frustrating.

rayted22 I'm not sure where that says anything about changing resolution.
It's the sharing bar, it will slide out of the way and return if your mouse touches the top edge of the screen. Move your mouse down and click on the app and it will roll up again. While the address bar in chrome is kinda near there, it's really shouldn't be hard to avoid touching the top edge.
The pushpin on the far right of the bar locks it open, it doesn't look like you've done this, but it's a simple toggle.

Hey!
Every coworker I know has complained about this in the past, and it's something I personally really struggle with. There's clearly an issue in having the bar conflict with the browser tabs so much. I honestly think that saying that "it's not hard not to have the problem" is generally not very useful, and sometimes really discouraging to the person having that specific problem...- ryanrenneApr 04, 2024Copper Contributor
This is a glaring UX problem for us as it comes up in every other call when someone shares their screen.
Our main pain is with how the "You're sharing your screen" minimized banner covers the browser tabs behind it, and once you move over any part of that banner, the big banner shows up and covers up even more tabs, making it even more impossible to get the tab you wanted behind it!
The addition of a simple button or series of buttons inside the banner that moves the banner to the bottom (or left- or right-side) of the screen would be a clean solution.

StevenC365 "It's the sharing bar, it will slide out of the way and return if your mouse touches the top edge of the screen. " false. it stays up all the time.

It slides back into place blocking the screen, anytime your mouse gets near that area. Very frustrating when you are presenting and then this large blocl appears to block your view.
The toggle will lock it in place (makes it worse) but not remove or hide it whch is what is needed.
It really is hard to avoid it. It doesn't only appear of you touch the top edge, it appears if you get anywhere near the center top of the screen.
There used to be functionality that allowed you to drag it off to the sde. Why was this removed? I's a right royal pain in the ...
