File collaboration

Please see below question :-

What happens when you have someone in your team, who isn’t using Office 365 (but an older version of Office) and they upload a document to a team-channel? Will you see a difference in the version? Will an Office 365 user still be able to open it in the newest format?

    Hi Wildman1240 ,

     

    As far as I have seen the file format will not change when uploaded to SharePoint. 

     

    Whether the file can be viewed in the online versions of Office is then done to the supported versions of Office in the Online versions. 

     

    Users opening the file in the desktop client version of Office will be able to, if their version of Office can open the version of the file.

      Keep in mind that the old doc format does not support the newer features like auto save, co-authoring etc
