Direct media for Teams SIP Gateway connected phones

Hi,
We have remote sites that originally had on premises CUCM that have migrated to Teams using SIP Gateway. Now calls between phones on-site have their media paths hair-pinning via the internet and Teams media relays. This results in poor audio quality for users compared to their previous Cisco experience where media would flow direct between phones within the site.

Are there any plans for Microsoft to implement optimizing media paths for these on-net calls using Interactive Connectivity Establishment for SIP gateway connected phones?  It would also be great if media bypass for direct routing calls using SIP gateway connected phones was possible?
