Accept guest invitation using an existing account with different email address
Dear community,
I already have a Microsoft account for work, which I use for Microsoft Teams within my company.
Let's say the email address of this account is: john.doe@mycompany.onmicrosoft.com
For email communication with external partners, I do not use the email account above, but another one, say: john.doe@ourowndomain.com
I recieved a Teams Guest invitation to john.doe@ourowndomain.com, and when I open the invitation, I need to create a new Microsoft account for this email address. (As described here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/business-video/join-team-guest?view=o365-worldwide)
Is it possible to accept the invitation, but use the existing account john.doe@mycompany.onmicrosoft.com?
Thanks!
Best regards,
Johannes Riemer.
- Hello, I'm afraid that's not possible. The inviting org. should enable OTP which is being rolled out as default right now actually (will take some time though) https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/external-identities/one-time-passcode#enable-email-one-time-passcode
Here's the flow you're experiencing all the way down to the account creation https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/external-identities/redemption-experience#invitation-redemption-flow
