SC-300 Exam Format Change

Hello. I unfortunately failed two SC-300 exams, one in February and the other this week. The exam formats were drastically different:

Date of exam: 8 May 2024

56 questions, no lab

Date of exam: 6 February 2024

48 questions with lab containing 11 tasks

For the 8 May's exam, I was rushing to complete the questions so that I have time for the lab, which did not exist. Plus, I had a series of questions available for review, and I had to take a break to go to the bathroom. When I returned, they were gone.

For the 6 February exam, the lab environment was unstable and kept prompting me to login after about 10-15 minutes of use. I failed to complete 3 tasks since I could not pass the signin errors. I reported this to both PearsonVue and Microsoft at the time, and the results were that they would not address (or could not find) the issues.

I reported these to PearsonVue, and they just referred me to Microsoft. So who do I report the latest exam format discrepancies in Microsoft?  --George

  • These are not discrepancies.

Labs are included in the exam if you have a computer that has the resources to run them and an internet connection fast enough. If you have a lab then you will have fewer of the other types of questions.

It does appear that in February the evaluation of your computer/internet were incorrect, and this should have been addressed by Microsoft/Pearson Vue as it does sound as if you did suffer.

As for scheduled breaks, dstarkowski is correct, you will not be able to revisit any question you had seen before the break.

Hi Julian. When I raised the issue about the February SC-300 exam, both PearsonVue and Microsoft support would not address the issues I encountered. Either they could not find the errors in the workstation or Azure logs, or they did not explore further than a blanket response.

I am usually very detailed oriented in reading any agreements I have to sign/approve, so the break aspects were very new to me. It was a bad day for me on 8 May exam day, where the taxi never showed up and I had to basically run from my work site to the exam center, which was half hour away by foot. So, I wasn't the best of shape and had to go to the bathroom twice to cool off. --George

    Regarding breaks:
"Once a break is launched, you will not be able to return to the questions that you viewed before the break even if they are unanswered or marked for review."

dstarkowski Thanks for the info. Do you know if this was covered in the beginning of the exam before starting the exam? I do not remember reading about it, otherwise I could have planned my breaks around this constraint.
