How to revert back to mail from new outlook
thanks to the link provided by LagTJ
Go to:
C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Local\Packages\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\Migration
Delete the file settings.json
Done, you've reverted to Mail/Calendar.
- cgrohsJul 16, 2024Copper ContributorAndyTpc BRILLIANT!!. I won't burden you with the details of the 13-hours-over-2-days it took to fix my problem, but you solved it! Woulda been nice if I had seen this yesterday, but better late than never. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

I've been using this solution for our users at work and for the most part it has worked. However, I now have a user that says the settings.json file is being put back almost as soon as they delete it. Does anyone know why this file is constantly being replaced? Our apps are downloaded through Company Portal, not the Microsoft Store.

Don't look any further, folks, AndyTpc's solution (deleting or renaming "%LocalAppData%\Packages\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\Migration\settings.json") is the right one. Many in the thread are confusing going back to Mail (the subject of the thread) with going back to MS Office Outlook, a completely different issue.

AndyTpcExcellent thank you. The new outlook client was just forced on me with what i thought was a regular security update. I have spent hours trying new clients and attempting to get them to look like windows mail and have lost many messages in the process. This worked a treat and i have saved your reply incase they try that again in the future.
