how to know if I should have a function / feature in Excel beta?
Hello,
I am new to insider program. I have just set up a beta channel in my excel on a computer and I can happily try out some functions which are only available in beta channel.
Now my questions are:
- where can I have infos which functions are currently available in beta only?
- how come there are functions I've seen from youtubers I can now also try, but others are unavailable. Like I see the REGEX functions, but not the TRANSLATE. Some other features, like the very newly published :. annotation is also missing for me.
Thanks,
Szilvia
When new functions appear they are announced here in Blogs and usually lot of posts on LinkedIn with the announcement.
Another story new functionality is deployed by waves. At the time of announcement only some per cent of Beta users receive the functionality. Coverage is never articulated, let assume that's 10%-20% at the beginning. When 100% will be covered also nobody knows, it depends on telemetry stats and feedback of happy Beta users who have functionality. It could take weeks, could take months to cover entire channel.
Moreover, if one day new function was activated for you, it could be deactivated in a while if critical bug was found or for any other reason.
Thus that's only to wait, cloud technology is kind of lottery.
If you only joined the Beta and you don't have the function which definitely shall be available for all Beta users, that's to wait for few days and reboot computer from time time. Assuming you are always on Internet connection. Such function not necessary appears immediately.
