Microphone no longer showing in my Device Manager.
1. Check for hidden devices: Open Device Manager (right-click Start Menu → Device Manager), click “View” in the top menu bar → check “Show hidden devices”. 2.
2. Rescan for hardware changes: In Device Manager, click “Actions” → “Scan for hardware changes”. 3.
3. Manually Update/Rollback Drivers
Update Driver: Right click the microphone device (or unknown device) → “Update Driver”.
Select “Automatically search for updated driver software”.
Rollback the driver (if there is a problem after updating): Right-click the device → “Properties” → “Driver” tab → “Rollback Driver “.
4. Uninstall and reinstall the driver: Right-click the microphone in Device Manager → “Uninstall Device” → check “Remove driver software for this device” → confirm.
Restart the computer, the system will automatically try to install the default driver.
If it does not work, download the latest audio driver for the corresponding model from ASUS website and install it manually.
5. Use Windows Troubleshooting: Settings → System → Sound → “Troubleshooting” on the right side (or type “Audio Troubleshooting” in the search bar).
6. Check for system updates: Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update → Check for Updates.
7. BIOS/UEFI Reset: Reboot the computer, press F2/Del to enter BIOS.
Find “Load Default Settings” or similar option to restore default.
Save and exit, and observe if the microphone is recognized.
8. Check for hardware failure external test: Try to plug in the USB microphone, if it works normally, the built-in microphone may have hardware failure.
9. System Restore or Reset: Go back to the restore point where the microphone was working properly.
Reset System: Settings → Recovery → Reset this computer (keep or delete files).
