How do I turn off Copilot in Word documents?
Boot Word
Click FILE (upper left of screen)
Click OPTIONS (lower left of screen)
Click CoPilot (see below)
Clear the box labelled "Enable CoPilot"
Reboot Word, and the CoPilot icon and aggravating delays are gone.
If you ever want to use CoPilot, check the same box and reboot to enable it.
I think MicroSoft got the message.
I meant the latest version of Word. Word>File>Options does not appear.

Make sure all documents are closed first, but Word app stays open. In desktop 365 (Personal subscription), the Copilot submenu only became visible for me in File>Options once all documents were closed. If a document was open it was not visible in the File>Options menu.

It does. That's exactly how you turn it off in the latest version of Word. If you don't see it under Options, you must be on a work computer or something where you don't have admin control.
