Creating PowerPoint presentation from Word file via Copilot
reachrj Sure and here you go:
Either I used the file name: "Create a new presentation from file /Draft 2_Genentech Sustainability Program.docx"
or the path link: "Create a new presentation from file /https://1drv.ms/w/s!AkuasLpVatJO5zFRjteeA8Tu7yxF?e=ddr2V4.
I also don't see a default prompt "Create a presentation from file..." as I've seen in other videos. Is there something wrong with my Copilot subscription?
Thanks in advance for your support.

JMaeG Currently Copilot Pro (home license) does not support creating presentations directly from a Word file. This functionality is currently limited to Microsoft 365 Copilot (work license).
If you're using Copilot Pro, you won't see the "Create presentation from file" option within Copilot.
I have saved your attached Word file to my Onedrive and created a presentation from the Copilot M365 ( work license ) attaching it for your review. https://alfalakcsa-my.sharepoint.com/:p:/g/personal/sajjad_mohammed_alfalak_com/EfAdy_qjcohBipPu18MTkYwBUMBE02UFS9betEjsVgQbVw?e=Fz415o- sylvie1965May 30, 2024Copper Contributor
Hello
I have a license Pro and I am able to ask Copilot to do a presentation powerpoint from the word document. Copilot confirms that he drafted 19 slides but I don't see the presentation on my screen. Why?

There are a couple of reasons why you might not be seeing the presentation on your screen even though Copilot says it drafted 19 slides. Here are some things to check:
1. Display Mode:
- Presenter View: Copilot might have generated the presentation but left it in "Presenter View." This view displays speaker notes alongside the slides and isn't typically shown to the audience. Check if there's a toggle to switch to "Slide Show" view, which displays only the slides.
2. Background Window:
- Minimized Window: It's possible the presentation window is minimized on your taskbar. Look for the PowerPoint icon and click to maximize it.
3. Multiple Monitors:
- Wrong Display: If you're using multiple monitors, ensure your presentation window is on the correct screen. You can adjust your display settings to choose which monitor shows the presentation.
4. Copilot Functionality:
- Draft Mode: While less likely, it's possible Copilot only drafted the slides in a temporary workspace and didn't actually create a new PowerPoint file. Check if there's a "Save" or "Export" option within Copilot to finalize the presentation.
If you've checked these possibilities and still can't find the presentation, consider consulting Copilot's documentation or support resources to see if there are specific steps for viewing presentations generated through their service

I am also affected by this (Copilot Pro & Microsoft 365 Family subscription).
In my opinion, this is a very important function of Copilot. You can find many similar posts on this topic and there are many contradictory statements and sources.
This source positively confirms the possibility:
German: Neueste Updates für Microsoft Copilot
Hinweis: Die Features stehen Benutzern mit Copilot Pro und Copilot für Microsoft 365-Lizenzen zur Verfügung.
English (US): Latest updates for Microsoft Copilot
Note: The features are available to users with Copilot Pro and Copilot for Microsoft 365 licenses.
Maybe it is, like the quite a few other sources, misleadingly written.
It would be very beneficial and much appreciated if MS would officially comment on the issue.
After all, the co-pilot himself is of the opinion that this feature will be available at the end of April 2024. Copilot primarily refers to this source:
Copilot in OneDrive: A New Wave of File Interaction

It has been working for me since yesterday (Copilot Pro), probably because of the Office update:

JMaeG same issue for me. Appreciate any support for this issue as it seems to work for some employees at Microsoft ... so maybe a question of prope customization in azure / office environment?

I face the same issues. Just bought (as a private user) the CoPilot Pro Licence to make my first steps and for sure, I wanted to create a PowerPoint out of a Word document ... and failed with the same error message.
Then I looked up the possible prompts at https://copilot.cloud.microsoft/de-DE/prompts/all (because I am in Germany, I was forwarded to this webpage) and figured out, that the "Create from file" is not even listed there. So I switched to the US version (https://copilot.cloud.microsoft/en-US/prompts/all), found it there but with the hint, that the feature is only available for customers w/ a business subscription.
