CoPilot real world workflow use cases
Is there any insight into the extent of Microsoft CoPilot's capabilities in the context of automating complex business workflows, especially within a Financial Planning firm subject to regulatory compliance?
From my understanding, CoPilot's current emphasis appears to be on personal productivity—such as email composition, content creation, and data analysis. While these features are undeniably useful, I'm keen to explore how CoPilot might be utilised to automate or semi-automate specific business workflows in a Financial Planning firm.
For instance, our typical annual review process for a client consists of the following steps:
- Financial Adviser conducts an annual review meeting with the client to update their financial plan.
- Notes are taken during this meeting.
- An assistant transcribes these notes into a standardised meeting note template.
- The same or another assistant updates the client database with new or changed information, such as changes in income, relocation, or alterations in investment values.
- Finally, another assistant compiles an annual review report, which is then sent to the client, summarising any advice and recommendations.
I'm curious to explore how generative AI technology could revolutionise this workflow:
- The meeting between the adviser and client is audio-recorded and transcribed to text by AI.
- This transcribed text is funnelled to an AI 'agent', trained to populate the meeting note template and update the client database accordingly.
- Another AI 'agent', trained on what we want reports to contain and how they look, utilises this information to draft an annual review report for the client.
I'm keen to know if there's any insight or information available regarding CoPilot's suitability for such complex tasks within a business context?
- Graham_hoskingBrass ContributorIt sounds like there are if you components that would be required to meet this use case available today is Microsoft teams premium that when the session is recorded can transcribe the voice into text and then after the meeting provide insights a summary and actions of that meeting. You also mentioned some complex workflows which power automate could provide. Which could integrate with your line of business applications. I don't believe that the first iteration of Microsoft 365 copilot will be able to perform all of these steps that you have written here. However, it is possible with a combination of tools. My suggestion would be to write down this complex workflow and then align to each technical element that is required such as GPT co-pilot and power automate. There are automation partners out there that would be able to help assist with this you could reach out to the AI exchange also
- JStubbsUKCopper ContributorThanks Graham. Where do you go about finding 'automation partners' and what is the AI Exchange?
Jonny- Graham_hoskingBrass ContributorYou can email them here and access their great tools: https://theaiexchange.com/
- Moe_KinaniBronze ContributorYou may need a recording bot that you can develop or finding msft partner to help you with it (ASC) is another example!

Microsoft Teams Premium can help you to do most of these requirements, and Power Automate may do the rest.
If you faced any issues implementing this, feel free to reach out 🙂- JStubbsUKCopper Contributor

- KristenKramerCopper ContributorI would recommend looking into Copilot for Finance. It's relatively new, but it's designed for financial professionals. Here's a link to the information from Microsoft:
