Copilot Chat missing in Outlook Web and Outlook Classic
Hello,
since recently we are experiencing a tenant wide issue with Microsoft Copilot Chat in Outlook.
Environment:
- Microsoft 365 Business Premium
- Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat enabled
- Copilot Chat is pinned for all users via admin settings
- Copilot Chat works in other Microsoft 365 apps (e.g. Word)
- Copilot Chat is missing in Outlook Web (OWA) and Outlook Classic for all users in the tenant
Key details:
- No recent admin, policy, or licensing changes were made
- Copilot Chat does not appear in OWA, which suggests a backend or service side issue
- The behavior is consistent for all users
Questions:
- Is anyone else seeing Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat disappear from Outlook Web or Outlook Classic tenant wide?
- Has Microsoft changed the availability or scope of Copilot Chat in Outlook recently?
- Are there known dependencies or rollout changes that affect Copilot Chat visibility in Outlook specifically?
Any confirmation from other tenants or additional technical insight would be helpful.

hi Chris1232 Thanks for sharing this, you’re not alone. We’re seeing very similar behavior in a few tenants as well. Given that Copilot Chat works in other M365 apps and is missing tenant-wide in both OWA and Outlook Classic, this strongly points to a service-side or rollout-related issue, rather than licensing or configuration. Especially since there were no policy or admin changes and OWA is affected, local client settings can likely be ruled out.
Over the past few weeks, Microsoft has been adjusting how Copilot surfaces in Outlook, including differences between:
- Outlook Web vs Classic vs New Outlook
- Sidebar Copilot vs inline Copilot experiences
- Gradual feature flag rollouts per tenant and region
It wouldn’t be surprising if this is tied to a temporary regression or backend feature flag change specific to Outlook.
At this point, the best next step is usually:
- Open a Microsoft 365 support ticket referencing a tenant-wide Copilot Chat disappearance in Outlook (OWA + Classic)
- Ask support to check Copilot feature flags and service health for your tenant
It would be helpful if others can confirm whether they’re seeing the same thing, especially across different regions or license types. If multiple tenants are impacted, that should help get faster visibility from Microsoft.
