We are so used to using Markdown everywhere else - Reddit comments, GitHub comments, Jira, Confluence etc etc. And it's such a convenient way to apply styling inline while you type.
My biggest reason for wanting it though is just to have "code" and "codeblock" styles that can be applied in one step. So many of my notes would benefit from being able to switch between code and prose easily.
