Organising One note
Yes you can move sections / pages / subpages to another notebook / section. Pl right click the item in the side bar and choose move/copy and choose the necessary details

what i was asking was for someone to advise how to find out the properties of a page/section so I can see what notebook it is assigned too?
as mentioned when you have 20 or 30 notebooks and your on a page/section it is not obvious which notebook it belongs too?
unless i am doing something silly...

adrianwa I don't know if this will help, but I use a fantastic OneNote add-in called "Onetastic" for OneNote. It includes a library of macros as well as the ability to develop your own. There are macros in the History category that will display summary pages with information about page authors, last edit date, etc for a section. It may be helpful. This tool only works in the OneNote desktop app, not the Windows store version. I believe that the vendor offers a trial version, I've owned it for many years so really don't remember. https://getonetastic.com/. It might be worth checking out.
