With AIP, adding embedded documents where the audience only has read only permissions.

I have a requirement whereby editors will create documents they have owner privileges however those that read them only have view privileges.  This works fine for the root document.  However, when there are embedded documents, those with view-only rights cannot open the embedded documents.  Is there any way to apply the security in the label in such a way as to maintain read-only privileges yet allow access to the embedded documents?  All documents can be in Word, Excel or PDFs.

rlcm58After trying with different documents and permissions, we decided this functionality must not exist, probably due to certain logic limitations.  Thus, we removed the embedded documents and inserted links to documents in SharePoint or shared Onedrive directories.  In this way, the AIP is applied to each document and the links are available for those having only read permissions.
