Sensitivity Labels not working as expected
Hi experts, I've been playing with sensitivity labels recently and I'm in testing phase currently having few ppl testing it for me before I officially deploy to all. However, it looks like there ...

further testing:
point 1 and 3 - works fine on old outlook. New Outlook doesnt seem to inherit labels. Not sure if this is bug or why.

ok... so I'm closing Point 2 as realized there is probably no reason why an email that contains a link to document in sharepoint -that has sensitivity label applied- should be blocked. The external sharing is managed on sharepoint directly (file/folder level) so all fine here....
The only issue I cant figure out is - why email in NEW outlook does not inherit label from attachment.
Any idea?.. is that a bug? Getting a bit frustrated on this as I need to deploy to all within 2 weeks 😕

Regarding the issue with email not inheriting labels from attachments in New Outlook, I'm not sure if it's a bug or a configuration issue. However, here are a few things you can try.
Check the label settings to ensure that the label is configured to inherit from attachments.
Verify that the attachment type is supported for label inheritance.
Test with different attachments to see if the issue is specific to a particular type.
Check for updates to ensure that your Outlook and Microsoft 365 are up-to-date.
Reach out to Microsoft support if none of the above steps resolve the issue.
You're close to deploying this to all users. Good luck, and I hope you get this sorted out soon.- sumo83Sep 20, 2024Iron Contributor
thanks for this.
I've tested it on my machine with old outlook and new outlook - same policy/labels. When I use NEW outlook, inheritance doesn't work. I attach a file with sensitivity label applied, and the email still has "?" as the sensitivity label, which means "no label"...
I switch to OLD Outlook and all works fine....
Will try MS support...
