Win 11 In-Place Upgrade

In Intune, we have created a Feature Update to push the Win 11, 23H2 update to some test computers in a group. I tested doing this with 3 computers. The first computer gave me the error code 0x80240022. I did some troubleshooting and tried to reinstall the patch again. From my understanding, the computer reverted back to Win 10. Upon doing so, we were unable to get past the lock screen to the login screen. The computer also showed no network connectivity even though the data link lights were on.

The second computer gave me the error code 0x8007001f. However, I ran commands to name the SoftwareDistribution and Catroot folders to have .old at the end of them. This recreated the folders. I then ran the patch and the computer successfully upgraded to Win 11 with no issues.

The last computer didn’t give me an error code. Instead, we installed the patch, and noticed that the issues the first computer had were replicated to this one.

I’ve read some articles and took the MS-102 practice test. There was a question on the practice test about rolling out Win 11 to 100 devices and how best to do that. The answer was to use Autopilot and the User State Migration tool. My question is are we deploying the in-place upgrade the way we should according to best practices, and if we are, what are some more troubleshooting steps we can take to potentially fix this issue?

I did that. Still nothing. I'm suspecting a corruption in a metadata file somewhere, but I can't find any evidence to that.
