Edit Files on File Server

StuartK73 Hi, if you have to use web apps you are bound to put the files on onedrive\sharepoint unfortunately; to date there is no way to open local files directly on word\excel online without first taking them to the cloud.
is it unthinkable to be able to transfer the files to a sharepoint space?

When the files on the File Server are exactly that, and have not been migrated to SP as yet.
SKStuartK73 Don't you plan to migrate these files to sharepoint?
That way you would have even more granular control.
I also struggled a bit with this and in the end the only solution was to migrate to sharepoint\teams.
Even using azure files you will always have the same problem.I work for a 3rd Sector / Charity organisation buddy, where the budget for projects / migrations doesn't come easy.
Working through an Intune mig just now.
