Configuration Policy Microsoft Edge settings not working on all Devices

Hi there,

We have a Custom Configuration Policy for Microsoft Edge. In this policy we have several settings applied including:

- Enable saving passwords to the password manager (User) : Disabled

- Enable saving passwords to the password manager : Disabled

- Enable AutoFill for payment instruments (User) : Disabled

We tried to also add the Computer setting but that didn't fix it. I have assigned the policy to the device group and the user group. I can see on some clients of the group it is working (User cannot save passwords or credit card information) but on some clients the setting is not working and the user can save passwords and credit card information.

Anybody has an idea why this is only working on some devices? or how I can further analyse it? The Intune portal was not much help since it does not show logs for users only for devices.

Thanks for your help!

  • So, you have a mix of users and devices in your assignment?

A good thing to remember, is to never mix users and devices in the same assignment 🙂

Assigning policies on a device-based level can be a highly effective approach in many scenarios. It ensures that specific settings and configurations are applied consistently to particular devices, regardless of who is using them.

We've implemented a device-based policy approach for our systems, which is currently functioning as expected. However, we've encountered synchronization difficulties with Intune. To ensure stability, we've adopted a 24-hour waiting period before initiating manual synchronization from both the device and Intune. This approach is most effective when the number of devices with missing syncs is relatively small numbers.

    Hello,

What does Intune say? Is it successfully assigned to the device where you are having issues? If you try to open Edge and paste this in: "edge://policy/" - can you see the policies in there?

Can you see the policies in the policymanager on the device?

      Hi NicklasOlsen,

      Thanks for your response.

Yes, I can see the policies in the PolicyManager and in "edge://policy/".

In Intune it says "Succeeded" for the Device setting and "Not applicable" for the User setting.

How is your assignments in Intune? Is it devices or users, you have assigned these policies to?
