Best Practice for sending a device in for repairs, do I delete or retire device from Intune?
I am getting ready to send a computer in for repair under warranty, and did not know if I should delete, or retire the device from Intune before sending it off. Tried without luck finding any best practices on this, they only discussed if a computer was lost or stolen.
Hi tw_squared,
For far as I Know, there are no Best Practices from Microsoft for this topic.
But I prefer to delete all company relation before I send my devices for repair. So I prefer to reinstall the device. I know this is not always possible, but if it is possible, reinstall the device. Most of the repair centers will reinstall your device after they repaired the issue, so they can test if your device is fixed.
I prefer to delete the device in Intune as well and have my device inventory clean as possible and I track my repairs in our CMDB.
The delete option will delete the device immediately from the portal and the Retire option will not delete the device until the retire action have been performed

- tw_squaredCopper ContributorThanks for the reply. That was the direction I was leaning, but great to hear what others are doing as part of their protocols.
