Android devices not Evaluating

We've been having issues with Android devices not evaluating after they've been enrolled. We have a collection of Samsung phones and tablets used for specific tasks, so they're enrolled as kiosk devices. We've had a number of them enrolled with no problems for quite some time now, but now when we enrol one it just gets stuck on "Not Evaluated". I tried wiping a device which had previously been enrolled, and re-enrolling it to see if that worked, but that's now stuck on "Not Evaluated" as well.

Is there some way to force evaluation, or am I possibly missing something obvious that's preventing them from evaluating?

  • LeonPavesic Hi Leon, thanks for the reply. I finally managed to work it out: I'd inadvertently renamed the enrollment token used for the devices so the dynamic membership rules weren't being applied. The device hasn't evaluated yet, but the designated apps have downloaded to the tablet as they should do, so I anticipate it's just a matter of time now.

    Hi jayfenneyRBG,

The "Not Evaluated" status serves as the initial state for newly enrolled devices. If your Android devices are not undergoing evaluation, consider the following potential reasons:

    1. The devices might lack an assigned compliance policy or lack a trigger to initiate compliance checks.
    2. If the devices haven't checked in since the last update of the compliance policy, evaluation may not occur.
    3. Devices not linked to a specific user, as seen with Android kiosk or Android Enterprise dedicated devices, could be a contributing factor.
    4. Enrollment with a device enrollment manager (DEM) account may affect the evaluation process.

After reviewing these possibilities and if the issue persists, it is advisable to contact Microsoft Intune support for more tailored assistance. They can offer specific guidance based on your setup and the particular models of your devices.
