Visio not responding when using shapes

I'm having problems with Visio Pro 2019, when I try to bring in shapes the app will go not responding for 30-90 secs.  Sometime the shape will then show up in the diagram others times maybe not.  I've already tried the office repair tool and it had no effect.  I uninstalled all office products, re-installed office 365, then Visio Pro and the problem persists.  All my other office apps seem to work fine.  Visio 2019 is a perpetual license, not subscription, office365 is sub.
