reasons not too sure a staged migration on exchange 2010 if it works?

What is the exact reason not to do a Staged Migration from 2010 to office 365 if this works? what issues does this cause?
Also, why would Microsoft just not prevent a Staged Migration to run, if this is not supported?
It's not really the reason NOT to run a staged migration, just that a cutover migration is a bit more seamless process for end users under a certain amount (MS recommends 2k), and seems to be the most commonly preferred choice.
