Microsoft Kills Viva Goals

Microsoft’s announcement of the Viva Goals retirement came as a complete surprise to the customers using Viva Goals to implement the OKR methodology for their organization. From Microsoft’s text, it seems pretty clear that Viva Goals just didn’t succeed in winning sufficient customers to warrant ongoing development. The outcome is that Microsoft cut its losses and will retire Viva Goals.

Completely shocked at this announcement.  It keeps business strategy aligned at the director level and builds buy in from managers a low level workers. It really enforced the story of the NASA janitor who told JFK "i'm helping put a man on the moon" by giving employees the visibility of how they are making a difference in reaching their orgs strategic goals. Perhaps it just wasn't marketed well, from being a regular user it was quite indepth, perhaps simplification and moving it under the MS Planner brand would get more exposure.

I really hope it gets resurrected, if its done right the product serves as a immeasurable tool.
