Is it possible to edit Calendar future events without changing all past events?

I have weekly scheduled appointments in Calendar. But if I edit this, the future event changes but so does past events. 

I would like a way to keep my past appointments unchanged so I can look back and have a record of those meetings. 

Maybe someone knows if this is even possible? Or of a 3rd party product or add-on that can help?
