Can I use subtract shape with a cluster of objects?

Geoff Bennett I just learned that this chat existed, so you've probably already resolved this.
I have a question for you. What kind of problems happen when you ungroup the continents? I'm able to do it with success.
That said, after ungrouping the shapes, I would (as tedious as it is) subtract from each individual shape to create your upper and lower hemispheres. If you are still in need of help on this, let me know and I'll send a video demo of how I'd do it to ensure a straight / clean line across all the countries.
