Applying updated shape properties to multiple files

Hi All. We have recently started using visio and am after some advice on how best apply shape data across different files. I created a template with various shapes and assocated properties and used this template to create 10 different process flows. Now unfortunately I would like to add additional properties to a couple of the shapes. Is there a simply way to make the change in one of the files and then apply to the other files or do i need to update each file indiviudally.
