How is the "Valid Manager List" determined?
Hi all!
We are in the process of rolling out "Manager Insights" in our organization, and have enabled all managers for access to the "Group Insights" tile within the Viva Insights app on Teams. Our minimum team size is set at 10, and this is what we see on the settings screen.
My questions are:
1. How are the 1,729 determined? Is it through the data uploaded from our HR data file, or from Azure AD?
Then, in doing a recon, we discovered that a manager who only has 9 licensed direct and indirect reports is still appearing on the valid list. We did notice that this person had a number of shared mailboxes within her org structure so:
2. Is the "validation" count including herself OR is it including these unlicensed mailboxes?
I look forward to a response!
Hi Dazza,
Thanks for your question. the Managers Enabled number (1,729) is calculated by default through AAD. Once the HR data file is uploaded and validated then that will take precedent and be used to calculate the managers enabled. Since you've already uploaded an HR file, then that will be used to calculate the number of managers enabled.
For your second question, the manager is included in the 10-person minimum group size. additional details: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/viva/insights/use/manager-settings

Hi VI_Migration, I will send this question to our product team. Part of it seems like a bug (manager with 9 direct/indirect should not qualify) but the product team will be able to explain what I cannot.
