But to answer your question: Don't add the devices to AD, but add them to AAD immediately. It's recommended that all users have AAD Premium/Intune in order to allow them to enroll into Intune.

A question, currently the computers are in an active directory domain and in Azure AD join.
For to be alone in Azure AD Join, is necessary remove from the domain, keep them in Workgroup and execute for Azure AD join again?
According to your procedure, new profile is created.

Finally, what about the users?
They are synchronized with Azure AD Connect since Active Directory, you need to create all users as Cloud Only?
