Why Only Web-Based Outlook Clients Can Recall Encrypted Email
1. Using the web-based Outlook client: Go to Outlook on the Web and sign in to your account.
Find the encrypted email in “Sent Mail”, click “More Actions” and select “Withdraw this email”.
2. Check your email encryption settings:
Make sure the email is encrypted with Office 365 Mail Encryption OME or IRM.
In Outlook on the Web, click New Message > Options > Encryption and select the appropriate encryption option.
3. Update the desktop version of Outlook:
Open the desktop version of Outlook and click on File > Accounts > Update Options > Update Now “.
Make sure Outlook is updated to the latest version.
4. Contact the administrator:
If the Withdrawal feature is important to you, contact an IT administrator to confirm whether the Withdrawal feature can be enabled for the desktop version of Outlook through a policy or configuration.
5. Use other notification methods:
If you are unable to withdraw an email, you can notify the recipient by phone or other means to ignore or delete the email.
The Outlook desktop client you refer to is the web based new Outlook, not Outlook classic.
