UrlDefense change my email when send with thunderbird
Hello everybody,
I hope somebody could help me. I have a nonprofit organization account with microsoft. I have configured my email server with a exchange rule to add a same firm to all users. This firm has some urls to images and webpages.
Many of ours users are using thunderbird. When a I send a email with outlook web or gmail android client the firm it's ok, but when I use thunderbird the urldefense changes the original path and then the firm it's not ok.
I don't know what is the problem.
Could you help me??
Thanks a lot for the help!!
Jorge
Hello,
The issue you're experiencing is likely due to Microsoft's URL Defense, a feature of their Advanced Threat Protection (ATP), which automatically rewrites URLs to protect users from malicious links. Thunderbird, unlike Outlook or Gmail on Android, may not handle these rewritten URLs as expected, causing the signature formatting issues.
To resolve this, here are a few steps to consider:
Check URL Defense Settings:
In the Microsoft 365 Defender portal, see if you can adjust the URL Defense settings for your organization to whitelist certain URLs, like the ones used in your signature. This may prevent URL Defense from rewriting them.
Use Static Images:Instead of linking to images via URLs, consider embedding static images directly into the email signature. This avoids the URL rewriting issue entirely.
Email Client Testing:Since URL Defense affects the way links are displayed in certain email clients, test the signature display across different clients. Thunderbird may need additional settings to interpret the URL Defense links properly.
please mark “like” and “resolved” if this helps your problem.

Than you very much for your answer.
I treid to change the URL Defense Settings, but it didn't work. I finally checked the mail settings and configured it to send mails only in html mode and the problems were solved.
Thanks again.
